I was introduced to yoga forty years ago by my mother who would practice at home to an awed audience of assorted small children and pets. In my teens, I took up classes at university, eventually deciding to train as a teacher almost twenty years ago. Since then I have had my own family, weathered a divorce and supported myself and my children on a sometimes unpredictable self-employed basis. Through all these life adventures, yoga has kept me healthy and sane and I recommend it for any problem, whether physical, mental or emotional.
general classes and one-to-one I hold regular classes for beginners and those with more experience and whilst I am committed to teaching the physical and psychological effects of the postures, I also like to use the healing power of laughter in my sessions.
yoga for mothers Being pregnant is a special time and keeping fit and flexible can help in childbirth and afterwards. Yoga is valuable for maintaining good energy levels, nurturing a changing body and adapting to new family situations.
chair yoga I specialise in teaching to people with restricted mobility or energy levels who prefer to work from a chair. My classes have proved very popular over the years and are recommended by local hospital physiotherapists.
yoga for children I have taught in junior and senior schools for many years where I find yoga to be good for concentration, pre-exam stress and muscular tension built up in sports.
yoga for restricted vision I am committed to teaching to those who would find a regular class inaccessible and am currently setting up local classes through the Blind Society.
yoga for stress management Hard working and psychologically challenged people are made ill through stress, becoming increasingly restricted physically and mentally through muscular and emotional tension. My classes are usually carried out on a one-to-one basis and are aimed at improving breathing, recognising warning signs of 'overload' and learning relaxation techniques to end anxiety attacks, sleep problems and 'adrenal burn out'.
